As predicted, it is the encore sales day, so everything is a repeat today.
The Daily deals are Skyrim (again... is that 4 times now), Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2, Bioshock Infinite, Civilization V, The Walking Dead, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, Kerbal Space Program and Chivalry.
The first round of Flash deals are GTA IV, Dead Space Riptide, Fallout New Vegas and The Cave, which seems like the only new sale.
As I said yesterday, I am going to be discussing some other things that weren't daily deals that are still really good buys this sale.
AI War: Fleet Command with all the DLC is 4.24, which includes DLC that just came out.
Beat Hazard Complete is 3.24, and it is a twin stick shooter that builds levels off your music collection.
Cave Story+ is a well-reviewed Metroidvania and it is 75% off at 2.49.
The Divinity Anthology, which contains the action RPGs Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity and the director's cut of the third person action rpg Divinity II, is 66% off at 10.19. and considering just Divinity II is 9.99, that is a solid deal.
Space Pirates and Zombies is 80% off making it 1.99, along with Rock of Ages.
Psychonauts is 75% off (2.49)
The Operation Flashpoint Collection is 5 bucks.
Joe Danger just came out and each of the two games by themselves are 33% off
I am posting this now, but I will be updating it through the day.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 10
Well, it has been a long road, and we are nearing the end. 10 days of reporting on this sale, and we only have 1 more left.
But the past 10 days have also been a learning experience for me.
For instance, maybe I shouldn't have almost exclusively written about this Steam Sale for 10 days. It is a mistake I am not going to repeat.
And speaking of repeats, tomorrow outside of a rare item in the Flash sales is likely going to be 100% repeated stuff, so depending on what pops up as dailies, I may highlight some items which are on sale tomorrow that didn't get the spotlight.
Today's theme (and final one) is Prison Architect.
Daily Deals
Prison Architect 34% off (19.79) Another game that is in alpha. But I've been reading about this thing for months too, so it has a good buzz going.
KOTOR II 66% off (3.39) It has been at a lower price.
Assassin's Creed III 40% off (23.99) I am still wary about that price.
Omerta City of Gangsters 75% off (9.99) I've heard very bad things about this.
Starforge Alpha 50% off (9.99) This is as the title suggests an alpha build of a game, one that looks like a Minecraft kind of game with better graphics. If that is your thing, have at you (and the normal price is half the price the final game is going to cost, so technically, it is 75% off the finished price).
Worms Revolution 75% off (3.74) I saw a 3D Worms game being played in a versus video for Rooster Teeth... and it piqued my interest. It is a definite maybe for me.
Natural Selection II 75% off (6.24) I've heard really good things about this game. It is like a blend of an RTS and a first person shooter, which sounds very intriguing.
Saints Row The Third 75% off (4.99) Just pure open world craziness. I love it. Love it. It made me love urban open world games all over again. Buy the version with all the DLC though... it adds a lot of content.
Counter-Strike GO 66% off (5.09) Counter-Strike isn't my game. But it is a good price.
Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed 75% off (7.49) I've heard a lot of great things about this kart racing type game, and I almost bought it at this price point
Flash Sales
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Deadpool 33% off (26.79) A game that just came out, and has mixed reviews with no really good ones. I'd wait.
Zeno Clash II 50% off (9.99) A unique little fighting experience, again with mixed reviews, but this one has some really good and a few really bad ones. Be cautious.
Sword of the Stars: The Pit 75% off (2.50) I sold myself on this game in doing this write up. It is a top down, space-based roguelike, and it has some decent reviews. I am probably going to pay full price for the DLC too. It just looks pretty cool to me.
Strike Suit Zero 85% off (2.99) I can't run this space-based third person shooter at its recommended specs, it has a bad story and a number of other issues. And yet, I am probably going to buy it.
Round 2 9PM-5PM
Final Fantasy VII 33% off (8.03) I know people love this game. I am not one of them. However, this rerelease came out this week, so this is a good discount.
Payday the Heist 75% off (4.99) A first person bank robbery game, designed for coop.
Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition 33% off (20.09) This too just came out recently, and it is a game the brings together almost everyone from the history of the series into one game.
Transformers Fall of Cybertron 66% off (20.39) That is a hefty chunk of change for a game that came out last year.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Repeats of Max Payne 3, Terraria, Sleeping Dogs and Dark Souls.
--
My Steam Summer Sale Running Total: $92.75 - Euro Truck Simulator 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited, RPG Maker VX Ace and the addons, To the Moon and Deadlight, 18 Summer Sale card earned, 3 sold, 2 bought, 3 traded, 2 badges made and a Football Manager Summer Sale background bought for 3 cents.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 9
Finally, a day in this sale that I might actually buy something. How did that happen?
Today's theme is Skyrim, though at the moment they don't seem to be getting the postcards right.
Daily Deals
Skyrim 40% off (35.99) Third time it has been on sale in the past 8 days.
Monaco 50% off (7.44) One of the games I may buy from today's sale. This is a simple looking coop heist game with a lot of character and variability. It looks like a lot of fun.
Metro Last Light 40% off (29.99) A great shooter. Tough on hardware I've heard. Maybe you should wait for a slightly better price though.
Grid 2 40% off (29.99) Repeat from a flash sale.
Trials Evolution Gold Edition 50% off (9.99) A port of a challenging console bike game which presents you with nearly impossible courses to try to master. In some ways it reminds me of Line Rider.
Eve Online 75% off (4.98) Starter pack for an MMO with a subscription fee.
Train Simulator 2013 80% off (10.99) The DLC is how they make their money on this... 1200 dollars of it so far and that is the sales price. Then again, I don't know how much model train stuff costs these days.
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition 75% off (4.99) Another game I may buy today or tomorrow, although I have heard that getting a non-enhanced version from somewhere like GOG and adding mods myself ends up being a better game than this particular release. I guess it depends on how lazy I am.
Civilization 5 75% off (7.49) Well, I said it would be a daily deal at some point in the sale.
Awesomenauts 66% off (3.39) A side scrolling MOBA game with decent reviews. None of the characters are behind a paywall and the DLC is purely cosmetic. A maybe for me.
Flash Sales
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Fable III 75% off (4.99) I've read it is the weakest of the series and the Steam page says it installs Securom. Pass for me.
Star Trek 75% off (7.49) Avoid. This is a bad game. A bad, bad game.
Rayman Origins 66% off (6.79) A highly recommended platformer with a whimsical sense of humor and lovely color palette.
Portal 2 75% off (4.99) A great game that you should buy if you don't own it.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Repeats of FTL, Hitman Absolution and Fallout New Vegas and a 40 dollar pack for a FTP game called Star Conflict.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Repeats of the Tomb Raider, Stardrive and Kerbal Space Program sales.
Towns 66% off (5.09) I was genuinely interested in this game. But I've found out that for all intents and purposes it is still a beta and it seems to be getting worse not better. The review scores are pretty bad too. It was supposed to be a game like Dwarf Fortress, so it is complex, but apparently it is also very buggy.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 8
And here comes the sale repeats. I want to see new deals. *shakesfist*
Today's theme is Torchlight, yours to plunder.
Daily Deals
Torchlight 2 75% off (4.99), The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 50% off (7.49) These are two games in the Diablo II design camp. I know that Torchlight 2 is a really really good game, well worth the 5 dollars, and Van Helsing, while newer, is also tracking as less good, so get Torchlight 2... seriously.
Call of Duty MW3 50% off (19.99) I think you know if you are going to buy this or not at this point.
Infestation Survival Stories 75% (3.74) FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT BUY THIS. EVER. EVEEEER! There was a ripoff of Day Z released called War Z and this is that game. It is horrible. Like one of the worst games to come out recently... a true debacle. Avoid this at all costs.
Magicka 75% off (2.49), Far Cry 3 40% off (23.99), Garry's Mod 75% off (2.49), XCOM 75% off (9.99) All were flash sales from Day 2.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 75% off (9.99) Flash Sale from Day 1.
Sim City 4 70% off (5.99) It has been 5 dollars a lot of times in the past. A lot.
Flash Sales
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Port Royale 3 75% off (9.99) A crappy, crappy game.
The Binding of Isaac 75% off (1.24) This is a twisted roguelike Zelda clone. Highly recommended.
Sang-Froid Tales of Werewolves 66% off (5.09) A combo Tower defense/third person battler that takes place in 1858 Canada. You play as one of two brothers fighting the forces of evil every night through the use of traps and your own skills at fighting. I may buy this.
And a repeat for Resident Evil 6.
Round Two 9PM-5PM
Dungeon Defenders 85% off (2.24) Three reasons not to buy this a) the sequel is coming soon b) the end game on this is really really grindy and c) Trendy Entertainment is really bad to their employees.
Repeats of Borderlands 2, Age of Empires II HD and Chivalry Medieval Warfare.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 7
I am getting increasingly disappointed by this sale. I know part of that is just me... but this may end up being a sale that I buy less games than some of my busier normal weeks browsing the site.
It is like they are screwing with me now.
Today's theme is Palanai Island from Dead Island Riptide.
Daily Deals
Dead Island Riptide 50% off (19.99) The trailer for the first game was the best thing this series ever did. This entry is substandard to say the least.
Mount and Blade Warband75% off (4.99) I enjoyed Mount and Blade, and the second installment Warband has a good sized mod community which put together in one instance, a good working Game of Thrones mod.
Tropico 4 Special Steam Edition 80% off (5.99) That is a good price. If you got Tropico 4 in a bundle somewhere down the line, the pack of this game with the DLC is cheaper than buying all the DLC separate.
Ace of Spades 75% off (2.49) This is a game that got destroyed going through the beta process. Avoid.
Evoland 50% off (2.49) Heard this is very disappointing. I say wait at least.
Batman Arkham City GOTY 75% off (7.49) The Batman games are very good. I have no hesitation in recommending this.
Deus Ex Human Revolution 85% off (2.99) Buy it if you don't have it. Really.
Grand Theft Auto IV 75% off (4.99) One of the most predictable things to go on sale. It is always on sale at one point during a seasonal sale.
Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes 66% off (13.59) I just don't like the fact that the DLC isn't also on sale. But this is supposed to be like a fantasy version of Civilization, so if that sounds good to you, you will probably enjoy this.
Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition 75% off (7.49) I wish I had a better processor so I could play this, even with GFWL integrated in it.
Flash Deals
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Gunpoint 40% off (5.99) A stealth game designed by a former editor of PC Gamer that is highly acclaimed. I've heard for quite a few people that this was one of the deals they most wanted.
Lego Lord of the Rings 75% off (7.49) It is exactly what the name implies. A good game and one that likely suits both target audiences.
War of the Roses Kingmaker 75% off (4.99) A first person melee weapon fighting game. I don't know how this compares with Chivalry, but this one does have a Brian Blessed voice DLC pack, which may tip the balance between the two games.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
And yet another sale on Left 4 Dead 2
Another sale for Fez and Anno 2070.
Saints Row The Third 75% off (4.99) Awesome game. Buy it and get the DLC too.
Rage 75% off (4.99) An average shooter from ID/Bethesda.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Dirt 3 75% off (6.24) A quality racing game from Codemasters with GFWL.
Cities in Motion 2 66% off (6.79) A city simulation game where you are in charge of the transportation systems. If this is your niche, I've heard good things.
And repeats of the Witcher 2 and Antichamber sales.
--
My Steam Summer Sale Running Total: $85.78 - Euro Truck Simulator 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited and RPG Maker VX Ace and the addons, 14 Summer Sale card earned, 2 sold, 1 traded and a Football Manager Summer Sale background bought for 3 cents.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 6
Another day where I didn't spend anything on Steam. This is getting weird now. What happened to my conspicuous consumption of digital goods?
I have to say I was very disappointed that there was no discount on the new Crusader Kings II stuff last night.
It is almost as if Valve is teasing me now... that or I am turning into a grumpy old man gamer who owns too many games and thus, I own most of the stuff in the sales now.
I just think I'm disappointed that things I've wanted haven't been daily/flash deals yet.
Today's theme is Football Manager Summer Camp. Yay!
Daily Deals
Football Manager 2013 75% off (9.99) I love Football Manager. I was evangelical about the series for years. If you like soccer/football you should own it. If I didn't have it, I would buy it at this price.
Sleeping Dogs 75% off (6.24) A very good open world sandbox game based in Hong Kong. A lot of DLC, but it is 75% off too.
Rising Storm 50% off (9.99) I am not a fan of Tripwire shooters. But people like them, so if you want a WWII shooter based on the Pacific War, this may appeal to you.
Crysis 2 Maximum Edition 70% off (8.99) Over at Kotaku in the Moneysaver, Shane Roberts mentioned that this was bundled with other Crysis games on Saturday for 12.50... so this may not be the best price now.
Alan Wake 90% off (2.99) Honestly, that is a really good price. It was that in a bundle too of course, but that doesn't detract from the appeal of this price point.
Orcs Must Die 2 75% off (3.74) This is a tower defense/action blend, and it is supposedly really good. That is a good price as well.
The Secret World 50% off (14.99) I've heard there are much better MMOs out there. I remember the PC Gamer review said this was sort of disappointing.
System Shock 2 75% off (2.49) A scary game, even if it is older. I've heard it has held up really well.
Devil May Cry 50% off (24.99) I think you should wait for a lower price.
Mark of the Ninja 75% off (3.74) A stealth platformer, and a fine example of that combination as well. I recommend this.
Flash Deals
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Serious Sam 3 BFE Edition 90% off (3.99) A good old school FPS, but nothing spectacular. But that is a good price.
Amnesia The Dark Descent 80% off (3.99) Another very good horror game. I've seen a lot of people having the piss scared out of them playing this game.
Scribblenauts Unlimited 75% off (4.99) I bought this the other day for this price. Looks like it is going to be fun.
Assassin's Creed III 40% off (23.99) I've read that Amazon has this game at 20 often. I'd wait.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Aliens Colonial Marines 75% off (12.49) As a symbol of both misleading trailers and bad preordering scams, this is definitely a game to avoid.
F1 2012 75% off (9.99) Heard it is a good simulation game from the same people who did Dirt and Grid.
And then repeats of the Dragon Age Origins and Mars War Logs sales from a few days back.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Half Life 2 75% off (2.49) I think everyone owns Half Life 2 by now.
Music Creator 6 Touch 66% off (16.99) A Cakewalk program for making multi-track music.
Torchlight 2 75% off (4.99) I really like Torchlight 2, but it is also going to be a deal of the day, so you don't need to grab it at this moment.
And then a repeat of the Defiance sale from earlier in the week.

My Steam Summer Sale Running Total: $85.78 - Euro Truck Simulator 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited and RPG Maker VX Ace and the addons, 13 Summer Sale card earned, 2 sold and a Football Manager Summer Sale background bought for 3 cents.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 5
So we are nearing the halfway point of this sale and it has been a little slow for me... I've only bought 2 games and a program so far, so I'm feeling sort of disciplined at the moment. I may end up buying some DLC before 1PM tomorrow, but I am still uncommitted to that.
I am hoping some more of the things I would like to buy get a Daily or Flash sale (like maybe a 33% off sale for Rogue Legacy). That being said, there are a lot of quality games today in the Daily Deals.
Today's Summer Sales' theme is Reus.
Daily Deals
Reus 50% off (4.99) A game where you try to rehabilitate a planet with giants. Or that's what I got out of the Let's try videos I've seen of it. Looks like a fun little niche title.
Dawn of War II Retribution 75% off (7.49) A Warhammer RTS with a faction campaigns that intermingle, encouraging multiple playthroughs with different armies. It is also relatively well reviewed.
Dishonored 66% off (10.19) A very interesting IP, and one that I will likely be exploring after Christmas. I really like what I've seen of this game.
Wargame: Airland Battle 50% off (19.99) The sequel to Wargame: European Escalation, this is a real time tactical game which allows players to fight a conventional war against the Soviet Union in the mid-1970's in the European theater. The first game took place in Germany and this game takes the war to Scandinavia, with the addition of air units and a more dynamic campaign. I really want to buy this, but I think I will wait a bit.
Castle Crashers 75% off (3.74) A really fun retro hack and slash game with 4 player coop. I highly recommend it.
Terraria 75% off (2.49) A 2D sidescrolling game with elements similar to Minecraft (using that as a comparison only). I like that price, and I know a lot of people love this game. I liked it myself, but I didn't get as into it as others, so I can't really talk about it's longevity, but I have seen some of the things people have built in it and it does look cool.
Max Payne 3 75% off (9.99) A very good third person shooter. I think I've seen a better price from this on Amazon a few times though as part of a larger bundle.
Killing Floor 80% off (3.99) This was on sale for this price for a while right before the sale. I am not a huge fan of Tripwire's games, but I know a lot of people who love them, so you may enjoy this zombie shooting FPS yourself.
Dust an Elysian Tale 50% off (7.49) Watching the trailer, it reminds me very much of Odin Sphere, and that is not a bad thing at all. A side scrolling 2D Action RPG is almost always a good thing.
Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion 75% off (9.99) A really good 4X RTS-type game, now with a greater number of factions than before. I can't complain about that price either.
Flash Deals
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Bioshock Infinite 50% off (29.99) This time around, it doesn't look like there is a better competing sale price from GMG.
Knights of the Old Republic II 66% off (3.39) I've seen this got 75% off in the past. On the plus side, recently there was a mod that reintegrated a lot of the material that was cut from the game for it to make it to release on time, so it is now a much fuller package than before thanks to the modding community.
Organ Trail 75% off (1.24) A zombie based parody of the Oregon Trail. It is a good price for that sort of thing.
Mirror's Edge 70% off (5.99) Another game that has been 5 dollars a lot of different sales. But it is a quality title.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Crusader Kings 2 75% off (9.99) I love Crusader Kings 2. Love it. I am a little disappointed that there is no discount on any of the most recent DLC releases though, but for everything else, this is a really good price.
Unreal Tournament 2004 75% off (3.74) Unreal Tournament is an awesome game. I liked 2004 a little bit less, but it was still pretty fun.
Primal Carnage 66% off (5.09) Heard this one is a little underwhelming, but it is better than Dino D-Day. Then again, most things are.
FEAR 3 75% off (4.99) I heard that this isn't as scary as the earlier entries, but it is a very decent shooter in and of itself.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Don't Starve 40% off (8.99) I wrote about this on Day One. It looks good, but I am going to wait for another sale to buy it.
3DMark 66% off (8.49) It is benchmarking software, not a game.
Galactic Civilizations II 75% off (4.99) I don't like turn based strategy games. Nonetheless, when I played this I could tell it was a quality title.
Carrier Command Gaea Mission 75% off (8.24) This is not good. Don't buy it. Especially since Bohemia Interactive's other military games are on sale right now.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 4
Onward to day 4.
Today's theme is Sunny Space from Kerbal Space Program
Daily Deals
Kerbal Space Program 40% off (13.79) This is another one of those games that is in beta. In this one, you have to build a functional space craft to send cute alien like creatures into space. It seems like a great concept, and it is definitely a game I am keeping my eye on.
The Sims 3 50% off (14.99) I think this is as low as it is going to go on Steam. It has been cheaper on Gamersgate in the past, but that was the Origin version. And it isn't really the base game that they are getting you with... there is over 200 dollars with of DLC for this title too.
Sanctum 2 50% off (7.49) I liked the first game, and the combination of tower defense and FPS elements is a good one. I think I will wait to see some more of the DLC before I buy it though since the season pass isn't on sale this time out.
Portal 2 75% off (4.99) It is a quality Valve game. I think that is all I have to say really.
Eador Master of the Broken World 40% off (11.99) I heard that this is really buggy. I don't know how stable it is these days, so keep that in mind. That being said, it is supposed to be a really hardcore turn-based strategy game, so even with the potential instability, it may still be up your alley.
Hitman Absolution 75% off (6.24) I liked the earlier Hitman games because they allowed a lot of situational creativity, something which this episode of the series has lost. It is a decent price though.
Fallout New Vegas 75% off (2.49) I really enjoy the Bethesda open world RPGs, and at 5 dollars for the Ultimate Edition of this game, I think you would likely have a lot of fun with this too.
Arma II 66% off (4.41) This is an amazing price for this game. I think the reason the price has come down so much is due to the fact that the DayZ standalone release is coming soon as well as the full sequel. This is a very realistic shooter in the same vein as the early Operation Flashpoint games, and it has a huge modding community. In related news, I have to mention that Bohemia Interactive, the company that is behind this game, was hacked recently and user data was compromised, so that is something which may negatively affect your decision to get this game.
Shogun 2 Total War 75% off (7.49) I think I liked the first game better, but this is still a quality tactical battle/turn based strategy game. I will recommend it, though I wonder if the price will come down further when the new Total War game comes out.
Remember Me 40% off (29.99) A game that had a lot of promise, but didn't really deliver. Looking at the scores, it also looks like the PC version was especially underwhelming. I'd wait.
Flash Deals
Round 1 1PM-9PM
NBA 2K13 75% off (7.49) I really enjoyed playing this game earlier this year. It had a few bugs, but it was a very solid experience. I would recommend this if you like basketball games.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon 70% off (8.99) I love the Ace Combat series so much, but I've heard that there were changes made to the core formula of the series and this entry doesn't play like the old ones. That along with the use of GFWL makes this a reluctant pass for me.
Doom 3 BFG Edition 75% off (4.99) Apparently the original release of Doom 3 on PC is a lot better than this remastered version. I wouldn't recommend this one.
Impire 75% off (4.99) DO NOT BUY THIS. Bad game alert.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Poker Night at the Inventory 2 50% off (2.49) The first one was ok, and I love the fact that they got Patrick Warburton to be Brock Samson for this game, so if you like the characters (even a non-Bruce Campbell Ash), you may enjoy playing this game.
Spec Ops The Line 75% off (7.49) A war story with a decent shooter mechanic. If you pick this up, you'd be doing it more for the story than anything. That being said, it has been cheaper than this in a bundle with Darkness II at both Amazon and Gamefly.
The Swapper 50% off (7.49) This is a sci-fi platform puzzle game with cloning. It looks pretty good truth be told.
Trackmania 2 Canyon 50% off (9.99) I liked Trackmania United, but I don't know how much better this iteration of the game is. And remember, there is still a free version of the first game on Steam called Trackmania Nations Forever.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Mass Effect 2 70% off (5.99) I love Mass Effect 2. Love it. However, if you want to have the best experience with this game, you need at least some of the DLC and that is how you get screwed since you have to buy it from Bioware at full price (which costs 5 times more than the base game does).
PES 2013 66% off (13.59) OK, the weird thing with this one seems to be the phrase "partial controller support" which shouldn't even be used for a game that is a port of a console game. I don't know if I am being weird here, but shouldn't any game that comes from a console that is not a shooter have full controller support, or is that just me. I also don't know if PES is still having some licensing issues, meaning that there are fake team names in particular leagues because FIFA has them.
Testament of Sherlock Holmes 75% off (9.99) It is a decent point and click adventure game, and seeing as that genre doesn't have as many recent entries as it used to, if that is your kind of game, you may really enjoy this.
Trine 2 Complete Story 80% off (3.99) It is the sequel to the successful platforming puzzle game Trine (a game which I started but never finished). I heard it is more of the same, but if you liked the first one, you probably already own the sequel.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 3
Well, Steam has made a liar out of me in a way.
Based on the cards for the past two days, it seemed like today's special would have been Dead Island Riptide, but instead they chose Tomb Raider for today, which given my prediction, should have been on Friday.
Nonetheless, I have no complaints.
Today's theme was Yamatai Island from again, Tomb Raider.
Daily Deals
Tomb Raider 75% off (12.49) If I had a better processor, I would definitely buy this today... that is literally the only thing keeping me from playing this game. It was very well received, and this is the lowest price I've seen it at.
Mars War Logs 50% off (9.99) All I have to say is it has a Metacritic score of 59 from an aggregate of a lot of scores, so it seems like it is mediocre at best. Even at 75% off, I likely wouldn't buy it.
RPG Maker VX Ace 66% off (23.79) This was one of the items I had been waiting to buy until the end of the sale to see if it was going to get an even further reduced price sometime in the next week and a bit since it started the sale at 50% off. It is a program that allows people with little to no coding experience to design an old school JRPG type game. And ever since I changed the focus of this blog, I want to try my hand at actually making a game, so this is a very good price point for me, but I can't speak for anyone else.
Borderlands 2 66% off (10.19) I think this is a good price for a good game. My only real concern is the amount of DLC that is still going to come out for this title and the prospect that there is going to be a collected version of everything at some point for a cheaper price. But you have to weigh that against the fact that this is very much a multiplayer game so you may regret buying it later if all your friends have already played it and don't wish to return, but the fact that it is a Steamworks game means that matching is a lot easier than it was in the original title.
Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 66% off (5.09) The whole Sniper Elite franchise is on sale really. There are some definite problems with the newer ones, but apparently they are still fun.
Stardrive 66% off (10.19) I heard this game had a lot of promise, but sort of failed to deliver. There are better 4X games out there, so I would say no, don't buy this today.
Age of Empires II HD 50% off (9.99) Despite some low scores, I've heard that this is a pretty good updating of Age of Empires II, so if you like RTS games, you will probably enjoy this.
The Witcher 2 75% off (4.99) If your computer can run this, buy it... as simple as that. I paid 16 dollars for it during the last summer sale on a 66% off sale then... at 5 dollars, this is an insane deal. The decisions to make in the game make the moral dilemmas in games like Mass Effect look simplistic in comparison because every little thing you do has negative and positive consequences in the whole game world. There are times you make decisions you didn't even know you were making. It is a great franchise.
Heroes of Might and Magic VI 66% off (10.19) Not really my kind of game, and it looks like it has some Ubisoft DRM beyond what they are currently using, so I am probably going to make this a soft no on my part, but I have a feeling people who like the Might and Magic games are going to be all over this one.
Resident Evil 6 50% off (19.99) Given some of the issues this game had in terms of design choices and various other things that Capcom did, I think that you should definitely wait for this one to be cheaper before trying it. I have a morbid curiosity about how some of the worst decisions came together so I have a feeling I will eventually play it for the same reason I watch something like Cabin Fever: so I can learn lessons about what not to do.
Flash Deals
Round 1 1PM-9PM
Kinetic Void 66% off (6.79) This is a very early alpha of a space exploration action type game (I gather). If it was further along, I might recommend it, but at this stage, I don't think it is complete enough to recommend.
Blood Bowl Chaos Edition 75% off (7.49) I have the earlier version of this game, which had SecuRom. I was not happy about that. This version doesn't have that DRM on it
Battlefield Bad Company 2 70% off (5.99) My only question/concern is: does anyone still play this?
LA Noire 75% off (4.99) I would love to play this... but I have no idea what GameShield DRM is, and I don't want to find out on my computer.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Lords of Football 66% off (10.19) If you want a soccer/football game in this sale, wait for FM13 to be on sale again. Seriously.
I Am Alive 66% off (5.09) While the Metacritic score is only 66, the spread is very wide, so there may indeed be a lot of quality in this title. It is another one of those post-apocalyptic games that are so popular these days. If that interests you, this may be a game for you.
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum 75% off (4.99) This is a quality older game with a lot to offer. For 5 dollars, I think it might be worth it.
On The Rain Slicked Precipice of Darkness 4 50% off (2.49) Zeboyd Games makes really good old school JRPG-type games. Take that as you will.
In all likelihood I am not going to be filling in the 5AM-1PM slot for tomorrow because of a previous engagement, but I don't think that will be much of a loss.

My Steam Summer Sale Running Total: $14.98 - Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Scribblenauts Unlimited, 3 Summer Sale card earned.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 2
It seems that my prediction that the card set for the sale is predicting the featured item for every day of the Summer Sale has come true.
Today's Getaway card theme is the Dark Ages.
Daily Deals
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare 75% off (6.24) This is definitely a game that looked fun when the Game Grumps played it a few months back and I've heard it has gotten even better since then. It also has a good Metacritic score, so it may be a worthy buy for people who like multiplayer games.
The Walking Dead 75% off (6.24) This is a very good game, full of tough choices and interesting characters. A big recommendation.
FTL 75% off (2.49) A roguelike game where you play as the captain of a lone spacecraft trying to outrun a rebel fleet to save the galaxy. It is a game that is full of astonishing moments and you really do get attached to your crew. Another recommended buy.
Just Cause 2 80% off (2.99) This game is an insane open world game and they've added multiplayer through modding. Recommended.
Surgeon Simulator 2013 66% off (3.39) While it does look like it is crazy fun, the fact that there was a free version makes me a little wary. I know there is a community of people who love it, but I have some doubts about this one even with the great review scores.
Sniper 2: Ghost Warrior 85% off (4.49) Run away. Run far away from this game. No really good reviews and a lot of bad ones, so even at this price, it is looking like a bad deal.
Call of Duty Black Ops 2 50% off (29.99) I don't know what the player base numbers are like for this game at the moment, but looking at the Steam discussions for the game, it seems like this is likely to be the lowest it is going to go for a long time, so it may be worth buying for people who love FPS games at a discount.
Darksiders II 80% off (9.99) It is a God of War kind of hack and slash game with RPG elements. If that is your kind of thing, then it is a good buy. However, I have a feeling that the non-sale price is going to come down over the next few months and even at a lower discount percentage in the winter sale, it will end up being cheaper. Take that with a grain of salt however.
Fez 50% off (4.99) I've heard really good things about Fez and the review scores are phenomenal (like 91/100 on Metacritic). That being said, I am likely going to wait until the winter sale to buy it since I have so many games already.
Anno 2070 50% off (14.99) Futuristic Sim City-type game with environmental elements to it. Not my cup of tea, but it may be yours. I think the price has been better in the past though.
Flash Sales Day 2
Round 1 1-9PM
Legend of Grimrock 75% off (3.74) An older style 3D RPG, with a lot of secrets and a great mod community, so it is well worth buying.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown 75% off (9.99) This is a really good price for this wonderful throwback to XCOM's past. Again, another recommended buy.
Runner 2: Future of a Rhythm Alien 50% off (7.49) I wasn't a huge fan of the first game, but I know a lot of other people were. My recommendation is if you do buy this, get the bundle, which has the soundtrack and a character pack since it is only $2.49 more and that content costs more separately.
Far Cry 3 40% off (23.99) A very well reviewed open world game, and no objection to the quality of the game. However, I've heard that even recently it has been cheaper on more than one competing service, so it may not be the best time to buy this.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Super Meat Boy 75% off (3.74) Sadistically hard but fair. Yes. Gross sense of humor. Yes. Kickass soundtrack. You know it. Overall great game and worth your money. YES.
God Mode 50% off (4.99) I like the ideas and concept behind this game, but I've read that it was not entirely successful at delivering on the promise its trailers revealed. I wouldn't recommend it.
Magicka 75% off (2.49) I liked the sense of humor this game had, but as I am mostly a single player kind of guy, it wasn't the best game for me. Technically you can play this as a single player experience, but this was definitely a game designed with group play in mind. Hopefully it is much more stable than it was when I played it, because it is a game with a lot of content and some interesting ideas.
Bully Scholarship Edition 75% off (3.74) I really liked Bully on the PS2, and I would totally recommend it, however I have heard conflicting reports about its stability and the quality of the port (issues which may have been resolved since its initial release). It is a great game, but if the port is really bad, I don't know if I can fully recommend it for the PC.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Farming Simulator 2013 66% off (9.51) I bought Euro Truck Simulator 2, so I am in no position to judge. That being said, apparently this is a fun game for those inclined, but I have a feeling most won't be.
Garry's Mod 75% off (2.49) This is a fun little creation tool, allowing you to play with assets from a variety of games. You need to own a Source-based game for this to work. (TF2 isn't on the list of applicable games though).
Ys I and II Chronicles+ 66% off (5.09) An pair of old school action RPG's from the late 1980's re-released with more modern touches and some enhancements, including Steam achievements. If you like older games, you may like this too.
Batman Arkham City GOTY Edition 75% off (7.49) This is a really good game. Only quibble is it uses SecuRom, which... let's be honest, is less than ideal for a game already protected by Steam.

Steam Summer Sale 2013 Day 1
Well, it is that time of year again, that glorious time when the Steamy skies open up and pelt us all with deals.
Every day for the length of the sale, I am going to be going through the daily sales offerings and telling you about the deals. This post will be a bit longer since I have to talk about some of the overarching themes of this particular sale though, so the other 9-10 posts of this series will be shorter.
The theme of this year's sale is a Summer Getaway, so it looks like every day is going to take place at a different locale around the world... for example, today is Bioshock Infinite in Paris.
And yes, there is a badge crafting game with trading cards (the mystery cards ended up being those very same cards), but I think the fact that the list of cards has already been released also gives everyone a heads up about what one of the deals of the day is going to be for the next 10 days.
Today: Bioshock Infinite
Tomorrow: Chivalry Medieval Warfare
Saturday: Dead Island Riptide
Sunday: Football Manager 2013
Monday: Kerbal Space Program
Tuesday: Prison Architect
Wednesday: Reus
Thursday: Skyrim
Friday: Tomb Raider
Saturday: Torchlight 2
This sale also seems to be Valve's opportunity to really expand the number of games that are part of the trading card program, and I think that games that do not have cards yet will be more likely to come up as daily sales. That is merely my theory on the matter given how many games that are on as a daily sale today received a trading card update.
I like the fact that for this Steam sale the Flash deals have been toned down a little bit in terms of frequency from 4 changes a day to 3, since that means you have to check the site a lot less, and in previous years there was a lot of repetition between the sales.
The Daily Deals
Bioshock Infinite: 50% off (29.99). It is a very well reviewed game, and if you want it now, that price seems very tempting. However, you can get it at Greenmangaming for 24 with a coupon code they provide on their front page. If you are going to buy it today, get it from them since it is a Steamworks game. In fact, for the list of games in that above card list, if it is a Steamworks game, GMG may do an overt price match with Steam and then add the coupon code deal on top, so you may get a better price on the deal of the day every day it comes up.
Don't Starve: 40% off (8.99). I've heard a lot of good things about this game, especially about the involvement of the community. If you've been waiting a bit to play this, and you are going to start it soon, then I say buy it. I am going to wait until the next sale to jump in to this survival game, but I will definitely be buying it at some point. I really like the art style too.
Hotline Miami: 75% off (2.49), Left 4 Dead 2 75% off (4.99) Buy them. They are good games, and the price is right.
Endless Space: 66% off (10.19). It is a good turn based 4X game. If you are going to buy this, I would recommend getting the gold package since the DLC goes from being 9 dollars to just a buck as part of the package.
Toki Tori 2 34% off (9.89). It just came out today, so even though I wasn't a fan of the first one, I think I could definitely recommend this game to people who liked the first one.
Scribblenauts Unlimited 75% off (4.99) This may be the game I buy in the next day and a half or so. I've wanted it for a while and this is the best Steam price I've seen for it, so I am making this a recommendation.
Defiance 66% off (13.59-23.79) If you like the show and you haven't played this game, then maybe you might want to jump on this. However, I've heard some unfavorable reviews, so it may not live up to expectations.
Anti-Chamber 66% off (6.79) A twisted first person puzzle game that supposedly messes with your brain. I think if you like games like Portal, this should be a definite buy.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger 33% off (10.04) It is a well-reviewed game from Techland, the people who made the Dead Island games, so if you really want it, jump on it now, but it will likely be much cheaper come the Autumn and Winter sales.
The Flash Sales
Round 1 1-9PM
Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition 70% off (8.99) This version has all the DLC, and for anyone who likes long, tough RPGs with some of the same kinds of moral choices that Mass Effect has, this would be a great buy all around.
Skyrim Legendary Edition 40% off (35.99) I don't have to tell you Skyrim is a great game. The question is, is 40% a low enough price for you to jump on this collection. I am going to wait, but I wouldn't blame anyone for getting it now. However, even if you miss it, I have a feeling that it will return at this price point again on Thursday.
Grid 2 40% off (29.99) It just came out a couple months ago, so this may be the best price it's been at so far. And the DLC is at the same discount. However, I do wonder if there will eventually be a collection at some point with everything (since I've read that there may be challenges that require you to have some of the DLC to complete the game).
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 66% off (5.09). I was never a fan of CS, but even I have to admit this is a good price, so I would recommend buying it at this price point.
Round 2 9PM-5AM
Euro Truck Simulator 2 75% off (9.99). I've made a few cracks about Train Simulator in the past, I admit it. But there is something about Euro Truck Simulator 2 that is intriguing to me. I've read a lot of good reviews for it, and somehow I feel my resolve breaking. I may end up buying this game before the evening is through. EDIT: And I did.
Dark Souls 75% off (7.49) If I had a better processor, I would buy it, especially at this price. It is a very hard game, but according to everything I've heard, it is also fair, and if you've read my review of God Hand, you know that is something I really appreciate. The only other thing that I have a quibble about is the fact that it uses Games for Windows Live.
Bastion 85% off (2.24) This is a great price for a really good, stylish indie RPG. The narrator adds another level of cool to this title. It is a good buy.
Cities XL Platinum 75% off (7.49) I don't like city simulation games, but I did like the move that Focus Home pulled following the launch of EA's Sim City and its initial problems, they had a huge sale on this game and released a dubstep trailer which talked about the features of their own game that were comparable or better than the new Sim City. I liked the moxie of it.
Round 3 5AM-1PM
Football Manager 2013 75% off (9.99) I loved Football Manager 2011, and got a lot of play hours out of it so this entry comes highly recommended.
Duke Nukem 3D 66% off (3.39) This is an older game that has been upgraded for modern computers, but one that is highly respected. If you are into retro first person shooters, then buy this.
Little Inferno 75% off (2.49) It is an indie game where you burn stuff in a fireplace. All I can say about it really.
Civilization V 75% off (7.49-12.49) I am not a fan of the Civ series. But, I know a lot of people who are, and while there have been sale prices like this in the past, I have to note that the new, new expansion Brave New World is 33% off now too. I have a feeling that this is going to be a daily deal in the next week or so as well.
--
So it has been a decent start to this sale, but not truly epic. I still have to pan through the items which will not become daily/flash deals since there are some really good deals.
Every day for the length of the sale, I am going to be going through the daily sales offerings and telling you about the deals.

So it has been a decent start to this sale, but not truly epic. I still have to pan through the items which will not become daily/flash deals since there are some really good deals.

The Arcen Games Bundle At Indie Royale Is Well Worth Your Money
Earlier today, Arcen Games and Indie Royale began a bundle deal that I think everyone should know about. It is basically every game that Arcen has put out except for their most recent game, Skyward Collapse.
I really like the stuff that Arcen games put out because they come up with some amazing concepts and they keep working on their games long after they've been released, which I really respect.
Even though I owned most of the games that were available in this bundle, I bought them again just to support the company because I love what they do.
When asked if there is a game I can recommend for the PC, my first answer is usually their first release AI War: Fleet Command, and in fact, when Jim Squires at Gamezebo asked for people to recommend one awesome game that would never be on the Xbox One because of its restrictions, AI War was the game I chose.
It is a game I am going to talk about a lot in the future as well because it does so many things right in my mind. But I will say this, the AI is indeed awesome in AI War... absolutely amazing. PC Gamer described it thusly: "It’s an RTS with turnbased combat. It’s tower defence with spaceships and wormholes. It’s galactic conquest where the silliest thing you can do is try to conquer everything. It’s a skirmish game where the AI has no interest in pretending it’s a human player."
It's a great game. Simple as that.
And if the bundle was just that game and its expansions (including the new one that is coming out this month and according to Chris Park, the founder of the company, when it is released on Steam, you will get a key for that expansion too) it would be worth the price. But the bundle is so much more than that.
It includes their highly acclaimed puzzle game Tidalis, A Valley Without Wind and its sequel, which are procedurally generated 2D side scrollers with strategic phases and their zombie game Shattered Haven.
Arcen is an amazing company, and I think more people should play their games and support them, because they are willing to try new things, they treat their customers well and they make some really great games, and I respect what they are doing.
So anyone who is interested in PC games and doesn't have some or all of these titles would have nothing to lose by purchasing this bundle. It is going to be on sale for 6 more days, and the price of the bundle is going to keep increasing as people buy it. At this moment, the current minimum is $5.56, and to get all the soundtracks in addition to the games (which includes one of my favorite video game tracks of the moment as well), you'd have to pay $8.
It is a steal of a deal and I am recommending it to everyone.
