Keynote and session videos from Google I/O now live

By Mike Winton, Director of Developer Relations

With Google I/O 2011 just two days behind us, we wanted to thank the nearly one million developers who joined us at Moscone Center, attended I/O Extended events, and watched online via I/O Live from 161 countries around the world. In addition to the announcements made at the keynote presentations, we had more than 30 announcements in our 110 sessions. HD recordings of all these sessions are now available online. Here are some of the announcements:
Highlights from this year’s event are posted at www.google.com/io, where we are featuring photos, announcements, and the latest videos. Also, stay tuned for a feature on “Backstage at Google I/O” where we will highlight the developers and artists who helped to make the event possible this year.

Google I/O kicks off the year as our biggest developer event--but we’re only getting started. As of today, we are announcing locations for our eight Google Developer Days (GDDs), which will take place all over the world with more than a few DevFests in between. Stay tuned for more info on the 2011 event details, but we’ll look forward to seeing you in Brazil, Argentina, Prague, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, Israel and Germany for our Google Developer Team world tour.

Mike Winton founded and leads Google's global Developer Relations organization. He also enjoys spending time with his family and DJing electronic music.

Registration Opens for fall 2009 Google Developer Days

We are excited to open registration for our second round of Google Developer Day events this year:
Both events will offer opportunities to learn the latest about our APIs and developer tools, including Android, Google Chrome, Google Wave, App Engine, AJAX APIs and more. There will also be time for developers to socialize - whether at "office hours" or the "after hours".  You'll be able to chat about your latest project or discuss that brain-busting question with fellow developers and Google engineers.

Similar to our Google I/O event in the US, the Developer Days will host a developer sandbox area, highlighting partners who have used Google developer products to build their own unique applications.  You can also take the opportunity to share a project or coding experience during our lightning talks. We look forward to seeing what developers bring to the table this year!

Space is limited so register soon!

2008 Year in Review

Before looking back on this past year, we'd like to thank the developer community for your involvement and enthusiasm in 2008. Without you none of our accomplishments would've been possible and coming to work would not have been nearly as rewarding or exciting.

In 2008 the developer team at Google made it significantly easier for developers to build increasingly sophisticated web apps. Looking back, some of the most notable events from the last year include the App Engine launch, GWT 1.5 launch, Chrome launch, AJAX Language API launch, AJAX Libraries API launch and the broad adoption of OpenSocial.

We also worked hard to make it simple to integrate and extend Google applications through the launch of the You Tube API, Visualization API, Maps for Flash API, Finance API and Custom Search API.

We were also really happy to participate in the Open Handset Alliance where we saw the announcement of the Android Developer Challenge winners, the Android 1.0 SDK launch, and the first app downloads in the Android Market.

Our favorite part of 2008, however, was interacting with you at Google I/O and at Developer Days. These events allowed us to meet inspirational developers in 15 countries around the world who are building fantastic applications.

In 2009, we look forward to building products to make the web better and that let you, the developer community, build better apps on the web. We are already excited about seeing you at events next year.

Happy Holidays from the Google Developer Team.

October Google Developer Days Open Registration

We are excited to open registration for four more Google Developer Days in October in India, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Russia.(Please note we have moved Google Developer Day India to October 18th.)

As with the other 2008 Google Developer Days, we'll discuss the latest with our APIs and developer tools, diving into topics such as App Engine, OpenSocial, and Maps. We'll have some cool new topics in store, and there will be plenty of time to socialize with fellow developers and Google engineers.

If you are in western Europe, registration for the September Google Developer Days (UK, France, Germany, and Spain) is still open, though we expect to run out of space very soon. We hope you can join us for one of these upcoming eight events.

Update: We've also just opened registration for Google Developer Day Italy.
