Highest Pressure in Decades Over The Northwest?

Do you feel the pressure?  Is it like the weight of the world is on your shoulders?  There may be a reason:  right now we are experiencing some of the highest atmospheric pressures in years and probably decades.

Take a look at the National Weather Service sea level pressure analysis at 7 PM (below).

A very strong high pressure area is centered over the Northwest and southwest Canada, with pressures greater than 1040 hPa over much of the region and a 1046 hPa center over southern BC.  1046 hPa is equivalent to 30.89 inches of mercury.  Folks, this is REALLY high sea level pressure.  At Sea-Tac the 9 pm pressure was 1042.6 hPa--and it is still going up!  There has been a huge pressure rise over the past 24h--roughly 20 hPa. The highest SLP I see at 9 PM is 1045.2 hPa at Lytton BC (elev 751 ft).

From experience I know these pressures are very unusual, but lets check the UW pressure archives.  Here are the hourly pressures at Sea-Tac airport since 1996.  Looks to me like the pressure last hour (9PM Wednesday is the final plotted red dot) was the highest during the entire record shown here (I confirmed by looking at the numbers).  So the highest pressure in 15 years!  That is impressive.

And the pressure is still going up!  The Portland International Airport has recorded a maximum barometric pressure reading of 30.76" (4:53am observation) which is tied for the second highest reading since records began at the airport in 1940 (thanks to Steve Pierce for this information). The bottom line is that we are experiencing truly unusual pressure right now...I wonder what this does to people with arthritis and sensitive joints.

 This push of high pressure over the Northwest is creating huge pressure gradients over the southwest U.S.  Here is the latest model prediction for tomorrow morning.  High pressure over us and a big pressure differences over Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and the offshore waters.

Very strong winds will be the result of these big pressure gradients, including gusts hitting 50-80 mph in places.   In fact, it has already started.  Take a look at the latest wind reports of greater than 45 mph over the western U.S.---quite a few of them.

And here are some recent reports from the National Weather Service office near Los Angeles.  Gusts as high as 69 mph so far.

Question

What if ABC had tried Million Dollar Mind Game in prime time instead of You Deserve It? It's a conundrum worthy of the well-dressed contestants on Mind Game itself.

Of course, the contestants couldn't have answered, because we can't run history over again. But that hasn't stopped some chatter on the web about how ABC chose the wrong game show to burn off in the schedule wilderness of Sunday afternoon. Especially now that You Deserve It looks to be tanking hard, with the second episode's 1.4 18-49 rating and only 4.4 million viewers. Both numbers are well down from the debut episode's already less than impressive totals.

Since it's pure speculation, I'll opine that Mind Game wouldn't have done any better and might have flopped worse. A painfully slow quizzer with painfully hard questions does not impress me as the ticket to Nielsen paradise. At best Mind Game might have collected a small cult following, which would have organized online petitions and letter-writing campaigns to save their unpopular favorite.

That would have been fun to watch but wouldn't have saved the show. You Deserve It's game is not sensational, but it's actually a lot better paced and more fun to play than Mind Game's numbingly tough puzzles. Too bad, but the producers stuffed way too many reality moments - hard luck stories and plentiful tears - into You Deserve It. If they had just stripped the show down to the gameplay, they might have lured decent ratings.

As it is, both shows seem destined for the famous six-and-out.

By Brendan O’Brien and Antonio Fuentes, Google Developer Team

Today we reached another milestone in our efforts to provide infrastructure and tools to make it easier for developers to use Google APIs: we have released the Google APIs Client Library for JavaScript in Alpha. This client library is the latest addition to our suite of client libraries, which already includes Python, PHP, and Java.

This compact and efficient client library provides access to all the Google APIs that are listed in the APIs Explorer. The client library is also flexible, supporting multiple browser environments including Chrome 8+, Firefox 3.5+, Internet Explorer 8+, Safari 4+, and Opera 11+. In addition, the JavaScript client library supports OAuth 2.0 authorization methods.

You can load the client library using the following script tag:

<script src="https://apis.google.com/js/client.js?onload=CALLBACK"></script>

Loading an API and making a request is as easy as executing:

gapi.client.load('API_NAME', 'API_VERSION', CALLBACK);

// Returns a request object which can then be executed.
// METHOD_NAME is only available once CALLBACK runs.

var request = gapi.client.METHOD_NAME(PARAMETERS_OBJECT);
request
.execute(callback);

You can use the APIs Explorer to check all the methods available for an API, as well as the parameters for each method. For instance, use the above syntax with the plus.activities.search method of the Google+ API to query activities:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
 <head>
 </head>

 <body>
   <script type="text/javascript">

function init() {

 // Load your API key from the Developer Console
 gapi.client.setApiKey('YOUR_API_KEY');

 // Load the API
 gapi.client.load('plus', 'v1', function() {
     var request = gapi.client.plus.activities.search({
         'query': 'Google+',
           'orderby': 'best'
           });

     request.execute(function(resp) {
         // Output title
         var heading = document.createElement('h4');
         heading.appendChild(document.createTextNode(
resp.title));
         var content = document.getElementById('content');
         content.appendChild(heading);

         // Output content of the response
         if (!resp.items) {
           content.appendChild(document.createTextNode(
'No results found.'));
         } else {
           for (var i = 0; i < resp.items.length; i++) {
             var entry = document.createElement('p');
           entry.appendChild(document.createTextNode(
resp.items[i].title));
             content.appendChild(entry);
           }
         }
       });
   });
}
   </script>
   <script src="https://apis.google.com/js/client.js?onload=init"></script>

   <div id="content"></div>
 </body>
</html>

To try this yourself, sign up in the Google APIs console or refer to the documentation on acquiring and using a developer key in the Google+ API.

The Google APIs Client Library for JavaScript is currently in Alpha, which means that we are actively developing it, but wanted to get the library in your hands as soon as possible, and we welcome any feedback to make the code better. While you can use the current library to start writing code, you should use caution when writing production code as library code changes may break your application. We are working hard to upgrade this release to Beta and beyond soon, and to release even more client libraries.

To get started, visit the JavaScript Client Library documentation page. We also welcome your feedback, which you can provide using the JavaScript client group.

Brendan O'Brien is a Software Engineer for the Browser Client group at Google. Prior to working on JavaScript APIs he was a frontend engineer for iGoogle. He is passionate about JavaScript and enjoys building web applications.

Antonio Fuentes is a Product Manager for the Google API Infrastructure group. He has experience launching products in the cloud computing, infrastructure, and virtualization space.

Gladiator: Velite

Another ranged weapon specialist, obviously based on the early republican auxiliary unit with the same name. The Velites later disappeared from the Roman Legions after the Marius army reforms. In the arena their closest kin would be the much rarer dart throwing Gaetulian.

The Velite carries 4 Javelins  and either a Pugio (knife) or Gladius as his backup weapon. This gladiator also enjoys carrying a small shield for limited protection.

The main difference between the Javelin and the Darts are that the Javelin throwing distance is but half of that which the Gaetulian can throw his darts. Both classes however have no movement penalty when wanting to use their ranged weapon. Another difference between the Javelin and the Darts is the possibility to use the Javelin as a close combat weapon as well as throwing it.

In close combat the Javelin has a weapon strength of 4, while used as a thrown weapon it has a weapon strength of 5. What makes Javelins and Darts a notch better than regular bows is the fact that the projectiles are so heavy that if they hit a model carrying a shield - and fail to wound him - the shield has stopped the projectile but become to unwieldy to carry anymore, being impaled.

As the Gladiator book can have important rules scattered about here are the pages you need to know:

page 20 "Casualties" in regard to projectiles thrown/shot at models with shields

page 141 summary "Weapon strengths" for the weapon strengths when used in CC or when fired. The "Armory" section somehow left out the Javelin strength when used in close combat.

Several Ongoing Pitch Tag Threads on Google+

Seems like Pitch Tag has really taken off on Google Plus! Here are some ongoing threads.

» Jared Axelrod
» Dev Purkayastha
» Brett Myers

I can already see the challenge of playing Pitch Tag on this channel, though. As the thread ages, it draws fewer new participants to add new life. Eventually the thread fades when the current participants burn out. Granted, that'll happen regardless of the channel, but it seems to happen faster on +.

The Pedestal Breaks

I am changing. I am changing enough that others are commenting on it. It has been happening for over a year now, and the comments are more frequent. But to a degree that change has been an act. I have been aping the behaviors that will get what I want, but never quite feeling comfortable acting that way. A few nights ago that changed. The paradigm shift that comes from studying game was, at least temporarily, internalized.

The change is partially a change in perspective. Thanks to game I realized that I have always had a mindset that pedestalizes women. Over the past year that pedestal has slowly crumbled. Game revealed the pedestal, observation damaged its integrity:

-I have my first kiss. I would have been thrilled if it had gone for ten seconds. I was prepared to hold back due to respect for her. She turns it into a twenty minute make out and nearly gives me a lap dance. My presumption of inherent female purity is damaged.

-The girl with whom I have my first kiss, has a twinge of "conscience" (I suspect she was turned off by my BETA tendencies more than anything), and turns to a friend who helps her get back on the straight and narrow. I see her a few months later with a guy who I learn is as distant from her church as I am. The power of the hamster is revealed.

-My brother's ex breaks into our apartment and causes hundreds of dollars worth of damage. When confronted she tries to pass responsibility to him. We find out that the tantrum was due to her witnessing him flirt with another girl at a bar. She ends that night in the ER with concussion and stitches after she tries to chase him while he drives away in a friend's truck, face planting in the process. My first face to face encounter with a genuinely bat-shit insane woman.

-A friend's marriage begins to unravel. He is a devoted husband and father, a genuinely caring person, and former military. None of this changes things. His wife gives him the "I love you, but I am not in love with you speech." They separate. I realize that I am watching one of the scenarios in Married Man Sex Life, and that my friend needs ALPHA traits. I insist that he read Married Man Sex Life. As of right now they are back together, the relationship is on shaky ground but I am hopeful.

-I observe the depth of contempt that a woman can hold for a BETA: My sister openly mocks an old boy-friend who suffers from depression (though not to his face).

-While some of my brother's friends are visiting, one walks in after a smoke break stating: "I found a straggler. " He has a cute girl in tow. It rapidly becomes clear that she knows no one. She is a complete stranger. I head to bed and as I fall asleep it occurs to me that any one of the guys could overpower her and take advantage of her. I am not particularly concerned as I know these guys. But she does not. She willingly walked into a possibly dangerous situation without a second thought.

Before all this I was a very nice guy: patient, considerate, and kind. I held women up as pure creatures who were by nature better than men, and I treated them as such. I was even convinced that the way I was acting was the way to win a woman's love. Needless to say acting like an asshole was never even a consideration. Since reading Roissy I have endeavored to against that nature, but could only act the part. Last week things shifted.

It started with a conversation with my little sister. She is seventeen and recently began dating. Due to my parents general cluelessness I have felt the need to explain how men think and what they are after. She has accepted this and thankfully seems determined to wait. Even so her head is currently up in the clouds about her first boyfriend. This is due in no small part to his status as a player at the local high school. After hearing her description of his behavior I explained that it was unlikely that the relationship would last long. She got somewhat upset at this and I watched as the hamster spun so she could tell herself that the relationship was more than just a high school crush. She then asked what she could do to be more adult so he would take her more seriously. At this point I ceased to care about the conversation. She wanted to act like an adult and I had told her how. Nothing else I could have said would have changed her feelings about this guy. Despite how much I care about her, I do not care about her relationship. What I felt at that point could be described as benign contempt. I disengaged from her little world and went back to my own thoughts.

A few days later my brother had guests at our apartment. Two girls, one blonde, one brunette, and two of my brothers friends came over for several rounds of beer pong. I quickly exited, but not before discussing the brunettes hair color. It was dyed and I asked her the original color. When she said blonde, I said: "Oh, that explains alot." Her jaw dropped, and I left before she could say anything else.

I went to another party that my aunt was throwing. She is a lesbian but frequently has her straight single female friends over. Unfortunately none of the straight friends, male or female, were there. Not to be rude, I stayed for a few hours. Usually under these circumstances I have been able to ignore the situation and at least tolerate the company. The easiest way to do this has been to be quiet and let my mind wander until someone brings me into the conversation. Once they find that I am not very enthusiastic about the conversation they generally leave me alone. This did not work so well that night. I found myself utterly bored. I cared nothing about the conversation, and little for the company. Lesbians have all the obnoxious female qualities, and almost none of the endearing ones. That sense of contempt returned. I eventually made my excuses and left.

I returned to my apartment. Everyone had left for a smoke break. The first person to come back was the brunette who I had insulted. Her first words when she saw me were: "I hate you." I just grinned and said: "Good." After everyone had come in, one of the friends offered me ten dollars to do a shot with him. I rarely drink and was reluctant, but eventually gave in.

From the shot on I was a very different person. I think that it was a combination of factors. First, I had injured my back earlier and I was in pain. Second, I had more alcohol in me than ever before. But third and most importantly I was in a bad mood after the lesbian party. I had no "nice" left in me.

It started when I began to do card tricks for the girls. Most tricks require a surface with some give like a carpet. We do not have carpet so I went with the nearest soft surface available: the brunette's thigh. The best trick was a vanish that involves rubbing the card one whatever surface you are using, multiple times. Any self-consciousness that could mar the kino was gone and I was very pleased that I had found a way to escalate touch VERY quickly.

After the initial round of tricks I got into a discussion with one of the guys, which the blonde felt necessary to interrupt. I quickly became annoyed and put my hand her face and said: "Shhh." I did it several times, as she did not get the hint the first time. She got miffed and walked away. Later it happened again. This time I lost patience and said: "Shut. Up." She got visibly angry at this. According to her, no one had ever told her to shut up before. She commenced trying to get me to apologize. I refused and turned it into a game where she was coaching me on how to say sorry, but no matter how hard she tried, a different word came out every time.

"Say sorry."

"No."

"Say sorry."

"I can't."

"Why?"

"Because I am an asshole."

"Say it with me: Sor . . . ry" She said.

"Sssssss . . . asquatch." I said.

Admittedly my BETA nature was kicking in at this point and I began to evade a bit. Then one of the guys told me that it was a losing battle, and that I should apologize to end it. This woke me up. I solidified my resolve and never apologized. She could not get over this and kept trying to shame me into apologizing. It eventually evolved into plaintively questions about why I did not like her. After she had asked this several times I told her to come over to me and get closer. "Let me show you how you can get me to like you." I then put my hand over her mouth and said: "Be quiet."

I took liberties that night. I slapped asses, whispered in ears, kissed faces (no lips), negged, teased and generally acted like a jerk. I was amusing when the brunette (Miss "I Hate You") gave me a drunken hug before she left and said: "I like you."

Now, I know that not all of my behavior that night was ALPHA, and it lacked any degree of subtlety. But more importantly, none of it was an act. My perspective had shifted. Both girls were looking for my approval by the end of the night, and all I could feel was contempt. Despite my physical attraction (the blonde was an 8, the brunette was a 7), I felt nothing for them. Their behavior was, in turns, childish and slutty. I was raised in a community where propriety was valued, and neither of them displayed it to any degree.

There are women out there who are valuable, I know a few from my church. These church girls' value is, however, guarded by a rigid set of rules, both spoken and unspoken. These rules are laid down by fathers, family, and church. I used to think the rules were only to protect the girls from the immorality of the men, but they primarily exist to protect women from their own nature. Women are not better than men. They are not perfect, pure, or naturally chaste. The pedestal has crumbled: women are merely human.

I Feel Very Machiavellian Right Now

Sometimes you have gaming experiences where it feels like everything is against you, no matter what you do. And sometimes you experience a series of events that you've set in motion that make you feel like an evil genius, all of whose plans are coming to fruition.

This is one of those latter tales.

It all starts as my time at Peru's Universidad San Martin in Football Manager 2011 was winding down to a close. I had just won the Peruvian First Division title, and I was looking for a new challenge.

So I quit my job there and while there were no positions immediately open, I did publicly express interest in a couple of jobs which had been occupied at the time, but which were ripe for the taking, as the people sitting in those chairs were not bringing the kind of success that management was looking for.

I went after jobs with Boca Juniors in Argentina and Penarol in Uruguay. Boca said they had to see how things were going with their current manager, but Penarol offered me that job almost immediately. I had wanted an 18 month contract, and they would only give me 6. So I finally relented.

And it turns out that in taking the job, I put Luis Fernandez Suarez out of a job. Now, when I was at San Martin, I had a rather poor professional relationship with Suarez, who had been the coach at Cristal before Penarol approached him to manage their club.

So getting that job at Penarol was screwing someone who I had a bad relationship with already, which was sort of cool.

Then I looked at the standings for the first half of the season.

Penarol finished 4th. The difference between where they were and first place was 2 points or to put it another way, the difference between a win and a tie.

I had booted someone I hated out of a job because in one game out of many, Penarol didn't score one more goal.

Again, I got a job because of a single goal or lack thereof.

So I was pretty much in a situation where I was going to succeed, and I did everything I could to see that the team met its goals. I won the second half of the season and qualified the team for Copa Libertadores (which is the highest level international club competition in South America).

And as my contract was nearing an end, Boca then approached me and asked me to take over as soon as contract was finished at Penarol.

At this point, I should mention who the coach of Boca Juniors was at the time.

Diego Freakin' Maradona.

A guy that gets mentioned in the same breath as Pele (and one who some say was the greatest soccer player of all time). A polarizing figure who is loved in Argentina.

Yeah, I pushed that dude, out of a job. If I had pushed him out of nearly any other job, it would have been a little funny. The fact that I pushed him out of Boca Juniors, is amazing. I mean, they love him at Boca. They even have a fight song about him.

I pushed the man who scored what has been called the Goal of the Century for Argentina out of one of the crown jewels of its premier league.

That is a lot of responsibility. But I kept my head.

Then I won. And won. And won.

I won both halves of the season. I won the Copa Sudamericana. I took out Santos, Pele's and the rising star Neymar's former team in the Recopa, and I won the biggest South American club prize, the aforementioned Copa Libertadores. All in my first year.

That wasn't merely victory... that was a curb-stomp battle.

Of course, now they love me.

And riding that wave, I requested to my board that Boca pick up a feeder club, and so they looked around at literally thousands of in the world clubs and came back with a single choice.

Penarol.

Which means that upon agreeing to that, they are sort of my bitch now.

And to think, if Penarol would have given me that 18 month contract to begin with, well, they wouldn't be under the thumb of Boca at this moment.

The sprinkles on top of that icing is now due to my success at Boca over the past year, the Argentinean FA has offered me the helm of the national team, a position I can do concurrently with Boca. At this time, Argentina is ranked #1 in the world.

So yeah, this is going to be fun. If I was really evil, I could use my power as the national coach to sabotage my club side foes by calling up their stars right before I have to face Boca. I'm not going to, but oh, I could be so corrupt. And that is why I am on the verge of crossing the line from every day villainy to cartoonish super-villainy. And that's a good thing.

Introducing Au-to-do, a sample application built on Google APIs

By Dan Holevoet, Developer Relations Team

A platform is more than the sum of its component parts. You can read about it or hear about it, but to really learn what makes up a platform you have to try it out for yourself, play with the parts, and discover what you can build.

With that in mind, we started a project called Au-to-do: a full sample application implementing a ticket tracker, built using Google APIs, that developers can download and dissect.

Au-to-do screen shot

Au-to-do currently uses the following APIs and technologies:
Additional integrations with Google APIs are on their way. We are also planning a series of follow-up blog posts discussing each of the integrations in depth, with details on our design decisions and best practices you can use in your own projects.

By the way, if you’re wondering how to pronounce Au-to-do, you can say "auto-do" or "ought-to-do" — either is correct.

Ready to take a look at the code? Check out the getting started guide. Found a bug? Have a great idea for a feature or API integration? Let us know by filing a request.

Happy hacking!

Better than the Scarlet A

You know, getting a tattoo from the tattoo guy that you cheated on is probably not the wisest idea:
A FURIOUS woman is suing her ex-boyfriend after he tattooed a steaming poo on her back. Rossie Brovent wants £60,000 in damages from Ryan Fitzjerald. Rossie, from Dayton, Ohio, US, wanted a scene from the Narnia trilogy inked on her back. Instead she was left with a pile of excrement with flies buzzing around it.
Mr. Fitzjerald may not have Game, but he obviously has an amount of common sense. He was smart enough to ensure that she signed "a consent form agreeing the tattoo design was "at the artist's discretion".

Important Lesson: don't cheat on guys with ink.

Incursion: No more noise AAR

This is another single player scenario from SNAFU.
.........
MI-13 commander briefs the squad on their mission:

“Alright chaps. Today we’re going down this sector and clear out some of Adolfs walking corpses. Once the area is clear, the Lucky 7th will move through and onto their next objective.”

The soldiers nod in agreement, look down at the map presented to them and start loading up on ammunition and checking their assault rifles. The MI-13 commander interrupts them with a bit of hesitation in his voice:

“Just, uhm, one more thing. We can’t make any noise down in them tunnels else Jerry will swarm the sector with everything he's got. It is imperative that you make this one a stealthy job, so I’m afraid you won’t be going to fire your guns, throw grenades or make much noise at all for that matter.”

The Corporal looks at his superior in disbelief: “Say what?”

“I believe you all had sufficient training in close combat, now would be the time to put those skills with the knife to practice”
…….
In this scenario, as the backstory suggests the MI-13 troops are assigned to clear out a section of the Gibraltar complex – with their knifes alone. If they fire their guns or throw a grenade the mission is automatically lost, though the allied models are allowed to make it a “moral victory” by making a fighting retreat once the cover is blown by clearing the place with their guns. To win, they have to slice up those 16 zombies patrolling (well shambling) around the area. An extra Damage Dice is awarded whenever an allied model tries to knife a zombie from the behind.

The zombies shamble aimlessly; each follows a random movement pattern controlled by 1D6 per zombie. Giving the zombie 4 directions to go, stand still or to move towards the nearest allied model. Zombies have but 2 action points so they are rather slow – but the MI-13 troopers are just as easy to kill by the zombies as the zombies are to get killed by the Mi-13 in close combat. All commandos except for the Corporal have but 1 wound.

However, each turn the German side rolls 1D6 and adds 2 to the result. This is how far away the zombies on the board are able to “smell the living” and will automatically move towards the closest living target instead or shambling around. Having “locked on” this way, the zombies also have the chance of getting a 3rd action point by rolling a 1-3 on a D6.
As long as the Corporal is alive, the allies flip 3 cards each turn, and are allowed to discard 1 for free. The other 2 cards are played according to restrictions, whenever the allies play a card they have to roll 1D6, on a 1 the card has been cancelled by the AI controlled Germans.  The allies receive 5 command points each turn.

Germans don’t receive any reinforcements, unless a Brainwürst card is flipped and allowed to enter play.
….
Turn 1, allies win initiative, and would keep it for the remainder of the game

Cards flipped are Battle Rage, Booby trap that is “paid off” and “Brainwürst” which is discarded.
Moving onto the table like shadows, utilizing the “Infiltrate rule” the Commandos are allowed to move onto the board, and then follow up by performing their turn as usual – in effect making two moves in a row.  Quickly splitting up into two teams, the allies quickly put down the closest zombies to minimize the imminent threat.

Germans roll 3+2 during their “smelling the living phase” which means several nearby zombies will “lock on” the allied troopers. These zombies are all marked with a red dot marker. The zombies shamble towards the tasty smell of fresh brains, some of the corpses end their activation just short of taking a bite.

Turn 2
Cards flipped are Lucky Devil, Minor Injury which is paid off, and another Brainwürst card which is discarded.

The teams now split up so that each soldier can move down a corridor alone. Another pair of Jerry zombies gets to taste the steel knife being showed up their skull to the humming of the Polish national anthem by private Suwalski. So far the zombies are just way to slow to react to what’s going on around them. The commandos creep slowly forwards leaving a trail of stiff motionless zombies.

Germans once again roll 3+2, and more zombies catch the smell of delicious juicy brains. Deceived by how smoothly things are going so far, private Adamski lowers his guard and gets jumped by a zombie that comes out of nowhere. Almost opening fire on the damned thing they both wrestle, and while the zombie ends up frantically chewing on the filter of his gasmask Adamski slashes the spine of his opponent with a well placed blow of the knife. Being a Lucky Devil this time.

Turn 3
Cards flipped are Bucking for a Medal, Booby trap which is paid off, and Jammed Radio which is discarded.

Moving along evenly the commandos press on, carving a path through the dead. Zombies left standing once again catch onto the smell of the intruders and advance towards the allies. Zombies too far away to catch the scent of juicy brains wander about and mind their own zombie business, mainly being confused by existing walls and standing around and moaning for themselves. The Corporal is approached by a zombie which makes an attempt to grab onto him but fails to hold on and is showed aside. The smell carries 3+2 once again, drawing the attention of nearby zombies.

Turn 4
Cards flipped are Rackley Hated His Mask and Minor Injury which both get paid off, and Jammed Radio which gets discarded. This puts a dent in the allied command point supply.

Clearing rooms and corridors the allies catch a break as  the scent only carries 1+2 this turn. So no zombies are within reach to “lock on”.

Turn 5
Cards flipped are Crushing Blow, Lucky Devil which gets negated and Boosted Pinger which gets discarded.

The allies clear all but 1 zombie off the board, the remaining zombie rolls 1+2 to catch any scent of the living, but is simply too far away to do so.

Turn 6
Cards flipped are 2x Rackley Hated his mask, one which is discarded and one paid off, and Booby Trap which too gets paid off.

Wasting little time the closest commando sneaks up behind the confused last remaining zombie and plants his commando knife in its head. “Welcome to Gibraltar” the Corporal mumbles and shoves a zombie corpse aside to clear the path for the approaching APE suits of the Lucky 7th.
…..
This scenario really did go down very well for the allies. They didn’t suffer from bad cards putting dents into their command point supply early on, and the German AI rolled very poorly on the “smelling the living” roll. Last time I played this game the zombies flocked towards the allies from further away which made things immediately more dangerous. This scenario plays real quick despite the Allies being reduced to rolling 1 Damage Die per attack with their knifes instead of blazing away with their assault rifles. This is also one of few times when the “Sturmzombies” act like real zombies and to stupid things that they would never do when controlled by a human. Standing around or just moving about in random directions conveys the brain-dead logic of these shambling corpses.

As for the MI-13 commandos being Polish, I figured I would use the models for my Polish platoon for SoTR – thus I did some converting and painted them like Polish WW2 commandos.

Next single player scenario in line will be Zombie Country, which is something of a Trick or Treat journey through 2 boards where the Allies have to explore locked rooms. So stay tuned for more Weird WW2 zombie mayhem.
