Week 21: Pageant of the Transmundane

I was literally about to publish the award posting for this week when I came across something so bizarre that it made me stop, delete everything I had just written and start anew, which included finding a new Homer-related image.

Earlier in the week, Drew Mackie of Back of the Cereal Box referenced my post regarding the strange nexus between Maureen McCormick and Ben Stiller, and I was introduced to his blog.

And as I was writing this, I decided to just take a gander over at the site, as I hadn't yet put it on my feeds to see if there was anything new... and I happened to scroll down a few more entries... and then I saw it, which much like former US Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart's definition of hard core pornography, my own sense of transmundanity is I know it when I see it.

This is one of those things you really have to see and stare at to really get the oddity. Telling you what you are about to witness in any tangible way will really ruin the whole effect... well, aside from the fact that the entry is completely safe for work, safe for children to see, and just, well, just weird.

Behold.

And to keep the whole mystery about this week's Homer Simpson Transmundanity Award going, I chose an image which is purposely related but not identifying. When you see the entry in question, it makes sense, but if you haven't clicked the link, well, it just provides some vague clue to the madness contained within. I mean, I am not even going to put most of the key words about it down below for Technorati to pick up.

Congratulations Drew. Your find has netted you quite the honor. Huzzah!

The rules of this little contest: Every week I will be selecting one blog post that I have seen from the vast reaches of the blogosphere to bestow with the Homer Simpson Transmundanity Award for being one of the freakiest(in a funny way) things I've seen or read during a 7 day period. It doesn't necessarily have to have been written during the week, I just had to have encountered it. That means that if you find something interesting and repost it like a movie or whatever, if I saw it at your blog first, you get the prize. Of course, creating your own content is also a very good way to win.

Now, if you see a post that you think is worthy of this illustrious prize, just drop me a line at campybeaver@gmail.com and we'll see if we can't get your suggestion up and award-ready while giving you some credit and a link to your own blog.
