Far from the most difficult but probably the most unexciting ship to paint in the box is the Dwarf ship "Grimnir's Thunder". Painting it reminded me of the old WHFB days of painting Dwarf units with lots of metal. In retrospect I should have tried some Non Metallic Metal on this miniature as it would probably end up better looking and with better contrasts. The horror of metallic’s is that they seem to dry a lot faster than regular paints, they can't really be thinned down with water, they mix poorly and are just awful to work with compared to regular non metallic paints. Or maybe that's just my experience, had to use a lot of medium to keep the paint from drying.
The more ships that are done the happier I am, the game is a lot of fun, we had a real blast down at the club this weekend playing it. And I now mostly have the fun ships left to paint, and perhaps most importantly, all ships that remain will each be possible to paint in one sitting (yay!).
