Fans of
The Price is Right should not get heart attacks over this entry's picture. Drew and company have not been axed from CBS.
Instead, in a bizarre legal tangle, the TPiR live stage show in Orono, Maine was
cancelled last night. The venue for the show, the Collins Center at the University of Maine, omitted a "No Purchase Necessary" disclaimer on their website.
The production company thought the lack of a disclaimer was misleading. So the show got wiped out, and a bunch of eager fans got bummed out. One irate TPiR-lover Facebooked this complaint: "It was a total bummer! That was my birthday present. To drive two hours plus, wait in line in the cold, get all excited just to be denied. It made me feel sad inside."
It does seem like the ultimate p.r. nightmare. Hard to believe that nobody noticed the lack of a disclaimer until the last moment. But lawyers rule the world, just not very efficiently.
